What is Home Assistant?

Home Assistant is an open-source home automation platform that allows users to manage and automate all kinds of smart devices in their homes. It offers extensive possibilities to bring together different brands and technologies, without depending on a single manufacturer. Home Assistant is particularly popular among true technology connoisseurs because of the flexibility and customisation options it offers.

Home Assistant supports a huge range of smart devices and services, from brands such as Philips Hue, Sonos, Google, Amazon and Smartblinds . It can control devices via popular protocols such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth and Thread. Thanks to integrations and plug-ins developed by the community, the number of supported devices continues to grow continuously.

Connecting Smartblinds to Home Assistant

To connect Smartblinds to Home Assistant, a Matter & Thread Border Router is required, such as the Home Assistant ZBT-2. This enables your Smartblinds to communicate directly and fully locally with Home Assistant, without relying on cloud services.

Already using an external Thread Border Router, such as an Apple HomePod, Google Nest Hub, or Amazon Echo? You can use that as well to connect your Smartblinds to Home Assistant.
